How Our Garage Door Referral Service Works

South Plains Garage Door is a referral website, not a garage door company. We send your request to one independent local garage door company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.

Who runs this site

South Plains Garage Door is operated by The Gadget Aid, LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. We publish this website and pass requests along to a local company. We don't employ technicians, own trucks, sell doors or parts, or do any repairs or installations.

We wrote the guides on this site using published sources, such as the National Weather Service, the Texas Department of Insurance, the City of Lubbock, the door industry's trade group (DASMA) and national cost guides. Sources are listed at the bottom of each page. Prices are national ranges, not quotes.

How your request is routed

  1. You send a request. The form asks for your name, phone number, town and a short note about the problem. To start, send a request with the form.
  2. Your request goes to one company. We send it to one independent local garage door company that serves the area. We don't send your request to a list of bidders.
  3. The company handles the job. Pricing and scheduling come from that company. It will tell you whether it can take your job and what it charges.
  4. You decide. You're under no obligation to hire the company. Any agreement is between you and the company.

Who pays

Our service is free to homeowners; you never pay us. Companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals, and that's how this site is funded. We don't add anything to your bill, and the company sets its own prices, terms and schedule.

What we don't do

  • We don't perform, inspect or supervise any garage door work.
  • We don't set prices, give quotes or collect payment for repairs.
  • We don't guarantee the company's work, its availability or its prices.
  • We don't give insurance, legal or code advice. Ask your insurance agent or your city's building department.
  • We don't send you marketing texts.

What to ask any garage door contractor

Whether you hire the company we refer you to or someone else, these questions protect you:

  • What's the total price, in writing? Include parts, labor and any trip or service-call fee.
  • Can I see proof of liability insurance? Check that the name matches the company on the quote.
  • What parts are you using? Ask for the spring size and cycle rating, or the door or opener brand and model.
  • What warranty comes with the parts and the labor? Get the terms in writing.
  • Is a permit needed, and who pulls it? This matters most for a full door replacement.
  • Do you need payment up front? The Texas Department of Insurance warns homeowners to be cautious of contractors who want cash only or payment before materials are on site.

Questions or complaints

If you have a problem with the company you were referred to, contact that company first. If it isn't resolved, or you want us to stop sending your requests, email us at [email protected]. We can stop referring to a company that doesn't treat homeowners fairly.

South Plains Garage Door is a referral website, not a garage door repair company, and does not do the work. We send your request to one independent local garage door company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals. Prices, scheduling and the work itself come from that company. Check any company's credentials and get written terms before you hire. How this works.
